Thinking Of Wearing A Neck Scarf? Here Are Five Rules To Remember

The neck scarf is a fashion trend that has stayed around for a while and with the cold season coming around, a lot of us will be wearing one. Whether you’d be wearing one for the first time or you’re a regular user of the neck scarf, here are some things you should know and put into use.

Choose The Right Material
If you’d be rocking one during the warm season, go for linen. When the weather is cold, wool is a good option while satin, silk, cotton and cashmere will do well with suits.

Thin scarves that comes as paisley or geometric patterns are modern choices. Also ensure that the thickness of your scarf reflects the thickness of the rest of the outfit i.e, a thin knit scarf would look good with a T-shirt or a thin hoodie.

Learn How To Tie One
If you’re wearing a casual outfit, a more casual knot will blend in well which you can either wear as a loose once-around loop or with a casual toss over your tour shoulder. If you’re wearing with a suit however.

Ensure that you make use of a sleek silhouette that comes as a simple overhand knot, or as a drape tucked into your lapels.
Be sure to keep the texture of the scarf into consideration when you’re making your knot.

A Parisian knot is best for a thin and short scarf, just as a big chunky scarf would be best for for a nonchalant shoulder toss.

Use The Right Size
Whether you’re wearing the traditional long Efik/Ibibio neck scarf or the short European style, it is best you get the right size. It should never be too long or too small.

The rule of wearing neck scarves is to ensure that they sit roughly on your waistline when it’s draped around your neck — about five foot, or 150cm, long.

For European styled types, it should be about six inches wide or twice that size if the material from which they are made is thin, to allow it to be folded over.

Contrast Your Outfit
Match your scarves with your outfits and know which goes best together. Navy blue tends to go along well with tan jackets, just as wearing colourful knitted scarves can help liven up a dark suit.

Wearing black with black can be edgy, but eye-catching because of the monochromatic appearance. In all, remember that scarves are accessories that gives you the option of contrasting different colours and textures of scarves and your outfits.

Choose The Appropriate Style For Occasions
Different styles of scarves are suitable for specific occasions. If you’re opting for a streetwear, scarves that come as big chunky wools are suitable.

Suits and business wears best go with satin paisleys when you’re out at work than when you’re out for a casual Friday night at the bar.

Pay good attention to maintaining the sleek silhouette blend of your scarf with your suit. Stick to a thin scarf that you can simply drape over your coat or tuck into the lapels of your suit.

Very rarely will you see men wear certain suit colours perhaps due to the fact that not many choices are available but it’s always good to know the shade that matches your needs. Just like other pieces of clothing, suits come in a variety of colours and hues but not all are acceptable for day-to-day needs.

It is always good to know which colours suits your needs and more importantly, your personality.
Here are common colours and the occasions that they are most suitable for.

The Black

Black suit
The black suit cannot easily adapt to different skin colours and as such, it’s versatility is limited. If you’re thinking of buying o wearing a black suit, it is important that you have a dark complexion to avoid looking washed out.

It also suits people with fairer skins, provided they match it with a contrasting shirt colour such as white. More so, black suits don’t work for all occasions, as they are best for formal events such as weddings and cocktails. Wearing them to other events may make you feel out of place.

More importantly, remember to always pair with a white shirt and monochromatic tie. If you can leave them out of the office in favour of grey or navy blue, please do.

The Grey

Grey suit
Grey coloured suits are known for their versatility and the ability to blend in with a variety of shirt colours, skin types and more importantly, different occasions.

There’s hardly any event that it won’t be acceptable to wear a dark shade of grey to, even though lighter shades of grey are certainly less formal, and blend in effortlessly with different patterns of shirts because the light colour amplifies the visibility of the design.

The Grey suit is something you should have as it is a mature and classy colour that you can comfortably dress up or down in, while combining it with a variety of ties and shirts, ranging from white to brown and black.

The Navy blue

two-buttons
If you can only afford to buy one suit, then you should make sure it comes as navy blue. This colour shade suits almost every occasion be it business meetings, informal gatherings and evening events.

The Navy blue hue suits sits completely and more importantly provides a neutral backdrop that completes every accessory especially when combined with bright colours such as a flashy pocket square or loud socks, as well as daring combinations involving your shirts and ties.

You can choose to wear the typical white button-down shirt but wearing bright and playful colours such as a soft pink shirt will provide the perfect canvas for your suit.

The Tan

Usher wearing white and tan
If you’re looking to wear a casual suit, one that comes with a tan is a good option. They are good for warm environments and you can pair them nicely with classic white buttoned shirts and hues that come as pastels.

The warm hue of the tan suit can also be complemented with shades of blue or cotton khaki, to have an interesting warm appearance. Deeper hues such as chocolate can also be worn with it but should only be worn to less formal occasions.

The White

White suit
White suits draw a lot of attention which is almost not always good. If worn for the right occasions and paired with the right accessories however, you can make a very bold statement with it. Where you can wear it to is pretty much restricted but you can have fun with it at very casual settings.

The Pink, Green And Yellow

Red suit
There’s absolutely no reason to have suits that comes in these colours except you’re a pop star that loves the pomp and flash. Stay off them if you can!

One thing you should realise is that the hair growing on your face is still hair and it requires a quality conditioner to keep it soft and supple. There are endless amounts of scented conditioners made of natural oils to choose from, ranging from almond and avocado to chamomile and lavender.

They help to lock in moisture and prevents your hair strands from appearing too dry and wiry. Shampooing, on the other hand tends to strip the hair of its natural oils and dehydrates your face, especially if you give it a nice lather-up your face roughly.

Comb
A fine-toothed comb is a must have grooming item as it helps to get all the hair strands of your beards pointing in the same direction downwards from the face.

Wardrobe
You don’t have to spend a fortune on trendy fashion wears except you can afford it. A number of factors are at play when it comes to how attractive and confident you feel. This included how well your clothes fit or how loose they are.

Ensure however that you don’t delude yourself when appraising your wardrobe or buying new clothes. If your intention is to have a well sculpted body, shape up and slim down, but make sure you buy what fits you.

In the meantime, wear what fits well. If you’re worried about height, go for shirts and trousers that have stripes which can help to accentuate your body length, and opt for darker clothes for a slimmer effect.

The Tuxedo

Tuxedo

The tuxedo has been the outfit of choice for the upwardly mobile and classy man for decades, which perhaps explains why it is the suit of choice of James Bond and why he always gets the girls. The Tux is an elegant classic that almost never goes out of style.

The tuxedo has evolved subtly over time and one modern look of it is the velvet jacket with smart black trousers that retains the popular vintage look these days.

The midnight blue is however a contemporary alternative to the quintessential black but it keeps things simple. All these explains why the timeless tux is James Bond’s definitive look and why the ladies can help but swoon when they see him.

The Lounge Suit

Striped shirts
The lounge suit helps to provide a more casual feel than the more stylish tuxedo. When you dress up with a lounge suit and a tie to match, it is a great way of showing that woman you have your eyes on how well you scrub up.

Your lounge suit of choice should be the slim-fit, single-breasted two piece which is slick and contemporary. The fitted double-breasted or three-piece suit on the other hand is an enduring classic that is definitely still worth your while.

Blazer and Denim

The combination of these outfits strikes a perfect balance between dressing up with a blazer or what some people refer to as a sports coat and dressing down with a stylish pair of slimming dark jeans.

If you’re out to impress her, follow some golden rules when wearing this combination. Avoid baggy light jeans and make sure you’re paring denim with a blazer and not a suit jacket.

Also make sure you contrast your colours by complementing dark-blue jeans with a tan, brown or grey blazer and light-coloured shirt.

The Rules Of Ties Very Few Men Know And Follow

There are rules behind wearing ties that determines if a man will be seen as sleek and stylish or not, and a lot of men need to adopt them.

From the right length, width, knots and cKnottinggetting the science behind your neck wears will do you a lot of good.

Be As Conservative As Possible
Being conservative will do you a lot of good. Subtle patterns and block colours will do a lot of good. Avoid the garish, as you risk destroying your overall appearance.

Avoid novelty Ties as much as possible as they will only make you look desperate and stoic.

Button Up
When you’re wearing a tie, you are supposed to keep your top button done up. Fewer things speak of you as someone that doesn’t pay attention to details than a man with collars that seem to be struggling against his tie.

Tie Bars
Those shiny metal clips can do a lot of good in improving the combination of your suit, shirt and Tie. Just ensure that you position them between the third and fourth button of your shirt.

The Length Is Important
After knotting your tie, the tip should not go beyond your belt buckle and should just reach the middle of your belt buckle or waistband. It should never be up around your sternum or go down near your tackle.

Knotting your tie and keeping it at an appropriate length will help to balance the difference between your torso and your legs. A tie that is too long or too short will affect your overall appearance.

Your Width Matters
From the 20th to the 21st century, Ties are getting skinnier by the day. The truth is the skinnier ties are becoming, the more it is related to the size of suit lapels.

The width of your tie should always match the width of your lapel. Keep in mind that slimmer Ties are more modern and wider is old-fashioned, whether for suits or ties.

The Colours And Patterns Combination
The quickest rule that comes to mind when it comes to Ties and shirts is that the former should be darker in colour or shade than the latter.

Check the colour of your shirt and choose a tie that has a touch of the same colour somewhere in its design. Be sure that the patterns complete your outfit not only in scale but also in orientation.

Never pair ties with big check designs or vertical stripes with vertical stripe shirts. Match Ties with small polka dots with striped shirts or a check shirt with a vertically striped tie.

If you’re wearing a black shirt, be sure to contrast with a lighter colour such as deep red instead of flashy bright red.

The Science Behind The Knots
The size of your head should determine the type of knot you choose. Funny right? The truth people with bigger heads should go for a full Windsor knot while people with smaller heads look better on half-windsor knots.

Try out the appropriate Windsor knots according to your head size and see how you’d achieve a sense of proportion.

Good Pocket Squares
Pocket squares can incredibly improve your appearance. You shouldn’t however match them exactly with your tie, be it the fabric, colour or pattern. Add a bit of contrast to get a polished look.

Bow Ties Can Do The Magic
If you’re one of those men that feels rocking the bow tie is sophisticated, then do so. You should however remember to do it right by adding a touch of originality and creativity.

Attempt soft patterns and colours, except you want to look like a bad comedian. think you can carry off wearing a bow tie then go for it because done right it’s the one neck tie variation that says class and sophistication with a dash of creativity and originality.

Learning to self-tie isn’t as tough as it’s made out to be and you can surely learn how to, there’s however no shame in going for the ones that are pre-tied or those with clips.

Match Similar Fabrics
Do your best to match the fabric of your suit with that of your Tie. Cotton should go with cotton, just as wool should be matched with wool.

For a lot of men, watches are the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to male jewellery but all that seems to be changing with more and more accessories including rings and bracelets coming into the fray.

More and and more men are letting go of the old masculine stereotypes and ate becoming more expressive with expressing their personal styles through the use of jewellery that is not limited to wristwatches.

As such, ear studs, bracelets, and necklaces are beginning to enjoy a significant level of popularity among modern men.

Here are a number of tips you can follow to wear jewellery as a man in a way that you’d feel comfortable and everyone around you will appreciate your new found style.

Leather Never Fails
Leather has been the go-to choice for the straps of watches for a long time but they have also become a trend in men’s jewellery when it comes to bracelets.

Whether they are single-strapped or woven; thicker with casual wears or thinner for formal occasions, they can basically be found on most men.

Woven leather bracelets will blend in well with with suit and tie and help to accentuate the overall cohesion of an outfit, especially if it blends with the leather used in the shoes and belt.

It also complements the metallic dial of a wristwatch, unlike metal bracelets that clash with timepieces.

Be As Simple As Possible
Designers of male jewellery are producing a lot of pieces that come in flashy and aesthetically appealing looks as a means of convincing a significant number of men to invest in such adornments.

One thing you should however keep in mind is that wearing too much is an instant turn-off. You can keep it simple with a subtle ear stud and a leather bracelet that will not draw too much attention but provide you with the stylish appearance you desire.

You should avoid wearing a thick gold chain and rings on every finger of yours, except you’re a rap star. Keep your styling classy and your pieces discreet.

Keep The Materials And Designs Manly
Modern jewellers ate putting men into more consideration and designing pieces that are more subdued and come in neutral materials such as brass, titanium, black diamonds, woody textures and oxidised metal. This provides men with a toned down look.

Some designers also employ classic metals such as rose gold and silver while some others use geometric designs using neutral-coloured stones.

The key is to have the number of gems appearing on your piece reduced to the barest minimum if you want it to look less delicate and inadvertently, less feminine.

Stick With The Classics
And by classics we mean fashion accessories such as wristwatches, cufflinks, and wedding bands that ha stuck around forever for more flashy modern jewellery like flashy studded bracelet.

Remember to only add vintage pieces that have manly aesthetic to the fray and this may include rugged military-style metal chains and leather or metal strapped wristwatches which are classic and good masculine options.

Avoid Terrible Clichés
Jewellery such as dog tags, spiky studs and shark’s teeth is not something you want to be wearing. It’s best to keep things simple, classic and stylish. You’re making a huge statement by dorning jewellery in the first place.

T-shirts are perhaps the simplest clothing item in the wardrobes of every guy and not many know that there are many ways to wear them to create a stunningly cool look.

From denims to blazers and cardigans, T-shirts basically blend with anything. If you’re interested in looking buff with every single T-shirt you have in your wardrobe, here are a few suggestions to try out.

To Show Off Your Cleavage
If you visit the gym regularly and have a body that is the envy of fellow guys and one that attracts women, you can wear your tees in a way where you flash your glistening cleavage.

Choose T-shirts with V-necks and plunging necklines. You should however be careful not to commit a fashion sin by straying away from the crew neck tee, irrespective of whether you want to show off some tattoo, a mane of chest hair or your well toned body.

Wearing Under A Cardigan
Tees look good under cardigans especially if you wear contrasting colours. A plain, light T-shirt will go well with a thick knit jumper which makes it a good combination during the cold weather months.

For weekend outings, you can choose to wear coloured Tees with a cardigan, skinny jeans, and sneakers to have a relaxed look. More so, you can get a textured contrast with a leather jacket If you’re up to a little bit of rebellion.

With A Blazer
This combination has always been a controversial one because blazers are mostly formal and Tees are casual. You can however pull off the look by choosing to wear a more casual blazer that comes with soft fabric and texture, alongside contrasting pair of trousers.

A white tee can blend with a tan blazer and chinos, even though you will look like an estate agent. You can however substitute with a pair of dark navy jeans to get a solid casual appearance for weekend hangouts.

Under A Shirt
You can wear plain white Tees Under button-down shirts along with chinos. Such look is cool for everyday wears and can easily blend in for semi-formal settings and work.

Graphic tees should be reserved for heavy checked flannel shirts that will give you a grungy appearance. You can never go wrong with a pairing of T-shirts with Denims and the chances of you doing so with a chambray shirt is next to zero.

With Denims
T-shirts and denims are perhaps the standard ways to blend both the former and the latter.

Pairing a tight-fitting tee with a pair of jeans has been a menswear staple for over sixty years and that is not about to change anytime soon.

Wearing both together can give you both a rebellious and calm appearance.
You can choose to wear your T-shirts as standalone outer layer, especially if you have a well sculpted body.

A white top will do well on a simple and masculine body frame and you can match it with dark denim jeans. Navy Tees can also blend in well with chinos.

Dressing to impress women can be an incredibly tough task as the clothes and accessories that impress one, may be repulsive to another.

There are however a number of fashion moves that will almost every self-respecting lady will find repulsive. Such clothes and accessories are universal sins that are style turn-offs for women.

Here are a number you should avoid if you have the intention of getting a few phone numbers or going home with one.

Overly Casual Outfits
By this we mean those days when you’re underdressed for date nights or to black tie events.

Few things are worse than inviting a woman who puts in a lot of effort for a date and she shows up to see her man wearing a T-shirt and jeans. It tells her you don’t care and sh may just take the cue from that.

Wearing Sports Sunglasses
If you’re not engaging in a sporting activity, don’t ever wear your sports sunglasses. No woman wants to see your wraparound on you at a restaurant.

Dirty Sneakers
If you’re going out with a girl, take the pain of putting in some effort and don’t wear the same shoes that you wear out everyday. If you must wear them, ensure that they clean as wearing dirty sneakers will ruin your overall outfit.

Jerseys
Except you’re going to a sports bar, you shouldn’t wear your jersey to any other place. Football players wear it as a uniform and chances are you will never catch them wearing them with jeans for a casual outing with their name on it, so why should you?

No Jewellery On The Wrists
You’re expected to own at least one wristwatch and not doing so or having any other jewellery such as rings or wristbands on can be a turnoff. A watch is an important finishing detail on a man.

Wearing Earrings
Don’t wear them. There’s no need to adorn your ears like hers. No one would be interested in dating such guys.

Visible Undershirts
Your undershirts should stay as they are- undershirts! No one wants to see your undershirt peeking out through your button-down shirt or the Inscriptions showing through your dress shirt.

General Sloppiness With Your Dressing
Being sloppy with your appearance is a total turnoff and you will score more points if you pay attention to sloppy details.

You don’t have to tuck in your shirt always but having a shirt that is not wrinkled will show you paid a little more attention to your appearance.

Clothes With Graphic Inscriptions
While it is totally acceptable to wear clothes with some form of graphics on, there comes a certain time that people won’t take you serious, especially if the Inscriptions are of an offensive nature.

Decorative Jeans
Jeans that comes with a lot of designs and embellishments are a huge turn-off for women, especially if they come with multiple tones or 10 pockets.

You should leave such jeans as relics in the past or give them out. To get heads turning, your jeans should be simple, crisp and clean.

Baggy Jeans
This was the trend in the late 90s and early 200s but it has since lost its appeal. The baggy jeans has no sex appeal and makes you look like a person with four legs trying to conceal two.

Double-pleated Khakis
Except you became a dad in the 80s and you’re no longer in the market for women, you can stick to wearing this. If not, your chances of getting laid is next to zero.

Scuffed-up Dress Shoes
Dress shoes are some of the fashion accessories women love to see on men and they notice when you don’t take care of them.

Dirty and Scuffed-up up dress shoes tells her you’re a guy who lacks the capability to take care of her.

Very Short Pants
Very short pants are a turn off for women as they d want to be able to see halfway up your legs when you sit down. It is unattractive to say the least.

Collarless shirts which have otherwise been known as the grandpa collar is a subtle and stylish alternative to help mix up your casual look.

In a world where conventional turndown collars hold the forte, a band collar or a well-styled collarless shirt will be enough to catch the attention of people that admire you.

History
This shirt dates back to the 1920s where it was adopted as a staple by flat-capped newspaper boys and prohibition-era hooch smugglers in the city of New York ad a working man’s shirt.

It was designed to be worn without a tie, which was perhaps the reason why it fell out of favour with men as time went by except for the grandpas until it recently enjoyed a revival.

What Material Is It Made From?

Collarless shirt
The band collar like most other shirts in similar category is made of linen or cotton. Some have an added layer of slightly-crinkled casualness, before a grandad collar sits a little looser around the neck.

The collar is usually looser that that of a normal dress shirt and it shouldn’t look tight or feel restrictive, just as the back tail should sit midway down your back pockets.

Your collarless shirt should have a retro look without the discomforting appearance of a dress-up party costume.

It should lie between a casual and semi-formal look, in such a way that it injects a slightly formal touch to your casual wear and a slightly casual touch to your formal wear.

Where Can I Wear It To?

A collarless shirt can obviously not be worn with a tie and as such, cannot be worn to formal occasions or any black-tie event. It however has a distinctive twist that makes it a conventional smart casual wear.

It is thus, suitable for semi-formal gatherings and a white band collar will pair nicely with a black, navy or beige linen suit. You can wear a nice pair of brogues and patterned socks beneath rolled-up pant trousers to complement your overall outfit.

When worn as a casual outfit, the collarless shirt can help to produce a more relaxed vibe than any conventional collar can. You can also choose to wear them with denims to obtain a laid back option, especially when you do so while sporting a placket that only extends midway down the chest.

This will usually blend in well with a pair of beige chinos and simple bright white sneakers.

In the alternative, you can wear a light powder blue or white collarless shirt with dark denims and a trendy pair of loafers to complement your appearance.

This look would rock weekend outings, especially one when you want to head out for a drink at somewhere that is a little more dressy than local Street side bars.

How To Treat Your Ties That They May Serve You Well

Ties are fashion accessories that we often out in delicate situations but hardly give the care and attention that they deserve.

This may be due to the fact that very few people know what to do when their expensive ties get stained or why they are actually attached to certain ties than others.

Ties are worthy of every attention you give them as taking proper care of them can ensure they last a lifetime. Here are a number of tips on how you can treat you ties, so they can serve you well.

The Proper Way To Clean
Hand steamers are the best way to clean your ties to remove wrinkles that form around the areas where the knot is made.

If there’s no hand steamer readily available, you can just simply hold your tie over a boiling pot of water, while taking caution not to le the fabric touch the water, to steam out the wrinkles.

While ties made from synthetic materials can be washed, it’s best not to wash them at all as the materials react differently when washed in water due to the different shrinkage rates of the materials inside the tie.

If you must dry clean, make sure you do so with an experienced drycleaner as pressing ties can flatten the rolled edges that give the tie texture.

Taking Them Off At night
A lot of people don’t unknot their ties after use and that is one of the reasons they don’t last long.

More so, when taking off your tie, always unknot it by reversing the knot. Avoid yanking hard on the small end of the tie to unravel the knot nor should you make the knot tighter by yanking on it that it becomes difficult to unknot.

Wadding up you tie can do damage to the lining inside from the twists. Hang up your ties on racks designed for such purpose to avoid slipping and twisting from falling to the floor.

When storing, keep them away from light to prevent fading and roll up the tie from the narrow end first so that the label side is revealed. Allow your ties rest for a while after constant use to help remove wrinkles and de-stress the fabric.

Wearing Over A Long Distance
Your neck wears can arrive in good shape when you’re wearing over a far distance or packing them for a short trip.

If in a plane, train or car, fold the tie gently into four and slip it in the inside pocket of your suit. If you’d be packing them, roll them up and tuck them in the corners of your bags or roll them loosely and place them in a pair or socks if you don’t have a tie case.
Note that ironing is not recommended as it flattens the body and causes the material to become shiny.

If you must iron, cover the tie with a cotton cloth such as a handkerchief, then iron it on low setting.

Removing Dirt Spots
There would be times dirt spots would appear on your ties and if they are silk ties, they can be hard to remove. If they are water spots, allow them dry and rub briskly with the narrow end of the tie.

For food stains, blot the area immediately then dip a clean cloth napkin in water and dab away the stains.

For grease spots, sprinkle talcum powder on the spot to absorb the grease. Brush off the residue after some hours with a cloth.

Any hard to remove stains can be removed by placing the spot over the steam of a boiling kettle and applying cleaning fluid afterwards.

Grey Hair Is Due To Over Thinking And Four Other Myths You Should Stop Believing

$

0

A lot of myths and fiction have been around for a while, especially when it comes to the colour, growth and texture of the hair. But which of these myths are facts and which are fiction?

Stress Will Make Your Hair Turn Grey
We all have seen pictures of a young and fresh-faced Barack Obama and Babatunde Fashola when they first ascended their respective elective posts spotting jet black hair.

Eight years after serving two terms, they could both be seen looking grizzly with their black hair turning grey.
The myth that the demands of the office made their hair turn grey quickly is false as if you take the same photographs of any man in his late 40s and 50s, eight years apart, you will most likely see the same thing.

The reason for this is because that age range is a stage in life when hair loses its pigment. While stress isn’t good for the body, spending long hours at work won’t magically bleach the hair and turn it grey.

Your Maternal Side Is Responsible For Your Baldness
If you’re bald, you most likely can take it from both sides of the family.

Whether your dad had full hair doesn’t matter as Male pattern baldness comes down to DNA from both sides of the family, not just your maternal grandfather, meaning the basis for this widespread belief is not factual and is as thin as you having rapidly receding hairline.

You Should Shampoo Your Hair Daily
The commercials that sell shampoos advice this but you should never listen to them as you don’t have to lather up every day.

Using shampoo frequently is not healthy for your hair as it depletes your scalp of the nutrients that give your hair strands a natural gloss.

Everyone’s hair produces oils at different speeds, and as such, ts best you give your hair a wash the moment it starts to feel too oily but you shouldn’t be keen about washing away those natural oils everyday.

Dry Scalps Are Responsible For dandruffs
Applying hair conditioners to make your scalp nourished and wet may not be the solution to your dandruff problems.

Dandruffs are caused by a yeast imbalance on the scalp rather than dryness. Scientists only recently discovered that the cause of dandruff was a natural yeast called ‘Malassezia globosa’ which feasts on your hair’s oil and inflames the scalp, causing the flaking of the top layer of skin covering your head.

You can solve this problem by applying a good medicated shampoo.

Cutting Your Hair Will Make It Grow Back Faster
This myth has been around for some time and there’s absolutely no truth to it. The Hair doesn’t have a will of its own, neither does it have a nervous system nor blood supply that aids it.

It is simply a strand of protein that has no way of communicating back to the rest of your body whether it’s been allowed to grow long or cut short.

The same thing applies to facial hair, as regular shaving doesn’t make your beard grow faster or thicker. The speed at which hair grows is usually dependent on your genetic makeup rather than on how often your barber takes them off.

The Right Sunglasses For Every Facial Frame

Believe it or not, there’s a bit of science when it comes to getting g the right type of medicated glasses or sunglasses that fits the shape of your face.

Our faces come in an array of shapes and sizes which makes some sunglasses look awkward on us and some look like they were made specifically for us.

No matter the shape and size of face nature blessed you with, it is important you bear some important factors in mind when choosing glass frames.

Sunglasses have become an important fashion accessory of the modern man and can incredibly improve a dull appearance.

However, using the wrong sunglasses can make you look weird and clumsy especially if the one you choose to wear is not appropriate for the shape of your face.

The four most common shapes of the human face are square, round, oval and heart. It however shouldn’t be a difficult thing to get the right sunglasses for your face.

All you need to do is follow the basic guidelines below, and pass yourself through the all important mirror test to get determine if it’s the right one for you or not.

Oval Face

Wayfarer sunglasses

People with oval faces have what is perhaps the most genetically blessed faces. This is because people with oval faces can pretty much wear any type of sunglasses and look the best they want to be.

Consider yourself genetically blessed. The only problem people with oval faces face is choosing the frames that will match their outfits and the rest of their looks.

They also have the freedom of going for bold choices when it comes to their glasses and can choose between retro-inspired designs, animal skin frames and thicker frames.

The Square Face

Ankara Sunglasses

The square face has a characteristically prominent jaw which makes wearing sunglasses that are shaped in a rectangular or square shape which can tremendously improve your look and people’s perception of you.

A square or rectangular framed sunglasses on your square face will make you look fearsome and positive especially if the frames are thick. It gives you an air of someone that can be in total control of any situation that may arise.

Wearing round frames is also acceptable to some certain extent as they can help to soften the natural angles of your face.

The Round Face
The round face can present some form of challenge because it requires the opposite of almost all other facial shapes.

If you have a round face, you may want to settle for a pair of rectangular frames. The reason for this is that the frames can help to provide your face with a subtle structure that can have an overall effect on the type of impression you make on people.

Using a rectangular frame if you have a round face can also help to reduce any suggestions or perceptions of you having a “moon face” because it draws away attention from your round curves and instead allows people to focus on the rectangle shape of your frames.

The Heart Face
People with a heart face have cheeks and chin that are narrower than the top half of their faces.

As such, any sunglasses that would be used by you if you fall in this category should contour your face in a way that your appearance is symmetrical.

More so, your glasses of choice should not be too small or too big on your face.
The most suitable glass frames should be wider at the top.

Go for frames with a little more detail, especially if you prefer them that way even though it may not be entirely necessary.

The Colour Combinations That Never Fails For Men

Men don’t do too good with bright colour combinations but knowing the Colours to mix and how they work together is incredibly important in getting a winning look.

While some classic hues just never fail for men, there are some other colours that can produce fireproof combinations to get that stunning look.

Black, White And Grey

Trey songz wearing black ,blue and grey
Grey is one colour that seems to be in vogue among the male folk, especially when it comes to synthetic materials and activewear.

The thing to have in mind is to contrast the fabrics. A grey jacket will do well with denim jeans to provide the tonal contrast you’re looking for.

Black and white colours are monochromatic and can help you deliver clean and aesthetically pleasing appearances.

The only unappealing part is the lack of prints and textures to make the outfit look more appealing to the eyes, which can make such an appearance boring. The best way to conquer this is to try out appealing patterns and fabrics.

Blue, Red and White
A combination of these three colours have been used by designers for a long time and it can work well all year round.

You can choose to wear the brighter red colour and incorporate it with white during the dry and hot season. A white polo shirt, worn along with bright red shorts, complete with the blue colour used to detail the outfits.

Alternatively, you can wear darker shades of blue and red during rainy seasons. A navy blue pullover complete with dark burgundy chinos will bring out your style.

Also, a classic blue jacket that comes with red tartan lining worn above a white shirt and chinos will get heads turning.

If you choose to go formal, go with a navy blue suit worn with a white shirt and a red neck tie will provide with the safest of formal appearances.

Navy Blue And Black

Navy blue shirt and black pants
A lot of men believe that you can’t wear navy blue and black together because they are almost as dark as each other and fail to provide any type of contrast that your appearance needs.

This unspoken rule however doesn’t hold anymore. Black and navy blue are masculine colours that are easy to mix. All you need to do is to make the clashing textures work for you and adding the necessary contrast such as a navy blue tee shirt on black jeans.

White And Tan
A combination of white and tan is neutral and breezy and is a favourite for hot seasons. A bright white cotton tee shirt worn with camel shorts should be your favourite look in these colours.

Also, a crisp white Oxford shirt paired with a fitted pair of chinos and bright white trainers will create an endearing look.

The White can go a long with gentle shades of blue, pink, and green which will further accentuate the look of dark skinned fellows. Light skinned fellows may however look washed out with this colour combination.

Earth-coloured Tones

Earth coloured tones
Earth toned colours such as shades of brown and green are versatile to say the least and work on almost every skin tone. They are also safe and reliable, including the fact that the colour hue of this category are suitable as workwear.

Grey and Camel work together well, especially if you’re wearing a lighter top and a darker shades of grey trouser. Burgundy can be a suitable alternative to brown leather, especially if you’re wearing stylish shoes like brogues or monkstraps alongside.

Male fragrances are particularly known to give off an air of strength and manliness.

What a lot of people however don’t know is that their age hidden meanings behind the ingredients of male perfumes and decoding the meanings, can offer an insight into the type of person the man is.

Here’s a brief guide to understanding the meanings behind the fragrance’s men wear.

Accord
If a fragrance label includes accord, it simply means it is a cumulative scent of several perfumes that has been blended and balanced to create a unique smell.

Amber
Amber us a kind of ‘accord’ that contains vanilla, labdanum and balsams with tree bark resin origins and was originally developed to smell like ambergris.

It is a sweet and warm oriental fragrance that women can’t resist.

Ambergris
This is a base note that has a sweet, earthy smell similar to tobacco. It’s natural form is very expensive because it is created from sperm whales crapping out inedible cuttlefish bones that is allowed to oxidise in the sun before washing ashore.

This is perhaps the reason why the fragrance most times come in synthetic forms.

Animalic
This animal-derived perfume includes ambergris, castoreum, musk and civet.

How To Wear Pocket Squares Stylishly

$
0
0

Pocket squares are perhaps the most underrated part of corporate dressing but it is the one male accessory that can add colour and personality to any suit or jacket.

Like most of the fashion items men wear, the pocket square was originally utilitarian.
History shows that the Greeks and Egyptians wore pieces of clothes over their breast which are similar to the modern day pocket squares we wear.

The difference however lies in the fact that the pocket squares were worn for a much different reason in the past (for sniffing pleasing scent under the nose).

In the 19th century, this was swapped for handkerchiefs kept in the breast pocket to keep them pristine and in the 21st century, as a strictly stylish item seen contemporarily as a way of the contemporary way expressing personality through colour and pattern.

Despite the fact that pocket square went out of fashion for a number of decades, it has returned strongly as a male accessory from the 90s till now.

The modern pocket square is worn to add some colour, elegance and flair to the standard blues, grays and blacks of male suiting.

Most pocket squares are made from an array of materials, more commonly linen, cotton, wool, and silk.

Perhaps the most important factor put into consideration is the fact that the material shouldn’t be bulky so as to prevent it from bulging from the pocket and ruining the overall silhouette and appearance of your suit.

The Rules
While there are no hard and fast rules, it is important to remember a number of things which you should observe.

The first of these is to remember not to match your pocket square with your tie. A lot of people do this and such style is till acceptable but ensuring you do not make a close match is essential.

For instance, if you’re wearing a tie with large spots, ensure that your tie comes with more smaller spots as that is more acceptable.

Secondly, it’s always best to start with a solid colour, especially if you’re unsure about which colours or patterns work with your tie or suit colour.

To start with, you can pick out a secondary colour in your shirt and tie and find a pocket square which is mainly the same or similar colour, either solid or in a pattern.

Furthermore, you can also choose to clash colours but you should avoid appearing ridiculous. A lot of modern men that down pocket squares think it should clash as dramatically as possible with the colour and pattern of their tie.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be the case as it may just make you look like you don’t know what you’re doing.

How To Fold Your Pocket squares
There are a lot of ways to fold and wear a pocket square, and it is best to find one that suits your style and personality. It is probably best to wear it as a straight fold, but the essential modern ones you need to know, however, are below:

The Single or Flat Fold

Pocket square single fold

The Loose or Uneven Fold
